Portrait of a Hospital
This personal project was spurned from a coincidence. Our local Borders hospital was holding it’s 10th anniversary since moving from the ‘old’ site at Peel to the brand new facility at Melrose. The NHS was also celebrating it’s 50th anniversary so it felt appropriate to shoot an exhibition to celebrate. The idea was that most of the sitters should be ‘backroom’ staff, people who are seldom seen but are the backbone to the smooth running of the hospital, most of the sitters had also worked at the old Peel Hospital. One light or natural light was my personal limitation on this project. The exhibition was in situ for over a year and was a roaring success.
